Pettit Family – Lacey, WA

I found my new favorite location, Nisqually Wildlife Refuge. If you have not gone, drop everything and head there this weekend. It is $3 to park and well worth it. We have been there as a family and enjoyed it. But as a it truly comes alive at sunset. If you are a Pokemon Go player, it is also a location of a ton of pokestops and 3 gyms so I mean, go. No shame for my location plugs. Washington has so many gorgeous locations that are just begging to be shared and enjoyed by all.

You guys, I just love babies. Seriously, I could be the next Duggar’s. I have a baby of my own and 7 month old Sienna still gave me baby fever. I mean those baby blues. How can you not swoon over her? With an outfit that adorable, I even found myself yearning for a little baby girl to dress up as if I don’t already have two girls to dress every day!

But the best part about this session was her parents! I have been so lucky to get joyful moms and friendly dad’s not too upset about the hour of photos they are about to go through. You can see it for yourself in their photos below but the love they share for each other and Sienna was the star of the show. It makes my job so easy when my families can just fall comfortably into guided posing.

A special thank you to the Pettit family for letting me spend an hour with them and adore that little girl of theirs. If you love their session as much as I do then share this post on facebook with your friends! While you are there make sure your swing by my facebook page and check out our summer special!

Thorson Family – DuPont WA

This was my first time out to Solo Point. I am an avid beach hunter. I thought that I been to all the nearby waterfronts. So when Marissa mentioned somewhere close by that I hadn’t explored yet, I was immediately down.
Solo Point did not disappoint. Getting there is a little questionable. It is technically on Fort Lewis, the roads to the beach are lined with explosive test areas and other types of ranges. But ones you see it, it is so worth it.
A little piece of paradise, an oasis. Clear waters with a stunning view of a cliff side island and distant shores. With the sunset hitting it just right to give it that true summer vibe. Though lets be real, this is the pacific northwest so it was still not warm enough to get in the water.

I spent my time here with Luka and his parents. Luka was a 2 year old on a mission. He was surrounded by rocks and pebbles with the goal of getting as many into the water as he could. I might have bribed him to look in exchange for a few rocks. Not that we were weren’t able to persuade him to join in on some family fun.

We were able to capitalize on the rocks to sneak in some shots of mom and dad. Those shots you don’t get many of after a little one joins the family. But are so important to capture that bond that started it all. These two are gorgeous together. They certainly made my job easy.

Just as I arrived at the beach I noticed these blackberry bushes and knew I wanted to end the session here with the sunlight leaking through. Luka agreed that was a great idea after he discovered they had berries. Most of them were not quite ready yet but there was a few ripe ones in the mix. I think every session needs to end with fresh picked berries. I think all kids would agree that photo sessions would be a lot more fun.

Thank you to the Thorson family for giving me a fun Sunday evening on the beach! I loved being find special rocks with Luka!

An Evening with Autumn

Sometimes paths align and everything works out perfectly. This was one of those times. After a last minute switch, I  get to shoot Autumn and her momma last Friday . It was a superb Washington evening. Warm, angelic sunlight with clouds spotting the skyline. Pair that with a delightful rambunctious almost 3 year old and it was a photographers dream.

Autumn was so outgoing. We let her call the shoots, taking point for her session, allowing the magic to happen. She turned a stick into a magic wand and a tree into a pinata. I am even fortunate to get my own piece of Autumn artwork. She drew my self portrait into a rock pile.

These sessions are my favorite for the love. When you get to chase after a young child and their family, you get to witness their spirit. You see how their relationship unfolds. The adoration it holds. A mother with her daughter playing together. Making memories. Strengthening their bond.

That is my goal as a photographer. My passion is to capture those in front of my camera as they are in that moment. Limited guided posing paired with natural interactions. This is how the magic happens.

For the you get those real smiles from little ones, not the posed fake smiles you can see through a mile away. You give that client images that can bring them back to the fun time they had. Running around this field together at sunset. Instead of remember that stressful hour where they posed unnaturally.

Because that sweet smile right there should be remembered for how it was. A silly piggy back ride with mommy, wearing a party hat for a birthday a few weeks away. Soaking up those moments of our babes being little while it lasts. The cuddles and idolization from our babies is gone all too soon.

Back At It…

Back at blogging…
Lets do a brief recap of the going ons here at CCP before I flood you with all the sessions I have been doing! First off, and the main reason this blog has been so quiet, we are expecting our 3rd baby in January!
_RJV2461
Morning sickness kicked my butt! But I will be 20 weeks along this week (so be on the lookout for a gender announcement soon as we find out on Wednesday!) and am getting back to my normal self! We are all so excited for this next adventure, especially Lila who spent a whole year asking for a new baby! I have been savoring every moment of this pregnancy from the horribly sickness and heartburn to the sweet little kicks. ❤

As if a new baby wasn’t enough, about a month ago Rollie aka Roland joined us after we sadly lost another one of pets. He is a Newfy (50%), Saint B(25%) and Great Pyr(25%) mix that is 3 months old and already huge! He earned his nickname, Rollie, after we quickly learned there is very little this puppy loves more than food! He is the 101 Dalmatians character reborn into a much bigger and much fluffier puppy! For more photos of this cutie and his big brother, Louie, follow me on instagram! It is mostly filled with their snuggles.

We seem to thrive in chaos in this household. Lol. But we absolutely love it.
The goal is that starting next month I am taking more time off from photography to focus more on doing more lifestyle images for my own family. These past 4 months have been so jammed packed with sessions, I have barely picked up my camera for my own family. Being busy is of course such a blessing but I also feel that with my body telling me to slow down (I have rough pregnancies guys. My body does not like growing babies.) so it is the perfect time to take a step back and refocus on my crazy gang of babes at home. You can expect to see a lot more personal posts like this one mixed into to the session recap blogs. Full of our journey as a transitioning familiy going from 4 to 5 with 4 pets, homeschooling 2 young kids, and exploring Washington. All while balancing military life. Sounds easy, right? Haha.

Here are a few recent photos of my gang. Its a tiny amount since I have been so swamped! I am hoping by next week I will have many more photos to share with you!

Thompson Couple

It has been a crazy couple of weeks in the Conrad household! Part of that was taking 2 weeks off while my husband went on a  “business trip” of sorts then plunging head first into a weekend full of 5 sessions! Add that in with getting our house painted and sprayed this week and normal parenting  duties, I am running a little behind with blogging! Better late than never though!

Jumping back into the swing of thing with the Thompson couple! They drove up form Southern California over the weekend and I was lucky enough to be able to do a session with them while they were in town! This session was a photographers dream. Plan and simple. They rocked their session.  I gave them over 100 images from a 40 minute session! I love every single one of them! It was so hard to choose some highlights to post here! So I included  little more than I normally would. 😉

Enjoy these highlights from their sessions last weekend!

Washington Adventures Part 2

Skagit Tulip Festival at Mount Vernon.

It is pretty much a must for a photographer to make the 2 hour drive up north to the tulip fields from what I gather. Not that it wasn’t worth it. We had a lot of fun, especially the girls. Lucy, of course, loves anywhere that allows for her to run like the wild child she is. Lila is your typical 4 year old little girl and was in flower heaven looking at the different colors, patterns and types. We brought some home with us (and some fudge, its great if you are going grab some!)

Last week I got a bunch of new camera toys, one of which was the 105mm macro lens. So prepare yourself for a lot of super up close flower shots. I might have went a little overboard. I went into the tulip fields with the plan on only getting a micro shot of a pink one to hang in Lila’s very pink room and well you can see how it ended up. A lot of these will be making their way to our walls now!

Snyder Family

Finally, a weekend without having to reschedule on account of rain! I could melt with happiness! It felt so good to get out and shoot this weekend. In some sun too! ❤
I love this “job” of mine! I feel so lucky to be able to do something I enjoy so much! In fact I was so excited, I was able to finish this session in record time! 2 day turn around!
The first of 4 sessions this past weekend is this adorable trio! I absolutely love how smiley mom and dad where. Nothing is going to make your pictures look better than when you give out real emotion like these two. They completely rocked their session! Little Ava was a complete doll. I mean she didn’t let out a single peep until right when we were done shooting and she was about to have to go back into the car.

Enjoy these highlights from their session!

Washington Adventures Part 1

Last weekends exploration of our local little area of Washington!

Last month, the girls spent 2 weeks in Texas with family after a series of impromptu road trips landed me in Texas. During my kid free time I got into the habit of exploring the Washington trails, parks and nature reserves close by us every morning. I loved it so much. It was something that I knew we would continue once our family was whole again! Not every morning since lets because lets face it, we just don’t have the free time for that kind of devotion these days. But every free rainless weekend has a date with us and nature!

Here is a peak at last weekends exploration. The rain might have canceled all my sessions but it didn’t stop us from running out during a mid day break in showers!
We hung out with some ducks, played in the fields, picked flowers at every turn and even saw a little snake!

I cant saw enough how much I love being in this state. I love it so much. I always thought that I was happy in NNY. I really did. But after getting here, settled and learning my way around, I know that I was only has happy as I could be living somewhere I hated. I am a city girl. I feel at home in traffic. I’m used to being surrounded by every kind of store you could imagine and all types of people. Except this area is different than Dallas, it is better suited for us. It seems to be handcrafted for people just like us. It is the perfect balance of city and nature. Not only can you go to Seattle and enjoy Pikes Place fresh food (which by way farm fresh goods is the key to my foody heart) but you can also go to beaches, mountains, trails through the forest, waterfalls, fields, anything your heart desires. As a bonus, I love the sound of rain and these temperatures aren’t to bad either. Oh and the chick fil a we are getting within the month and the whole foods coming in May pretty much sealed my heart away to the Seattle – Tacoma area for good. 😉

I’ve been here almost 5 months and already I could buy a house and live here forever. ❤
