Meet Baby Leith

It has been a ghost town around here and my Facebook page the last few months. I have a perfect reason for the silence, this beautiful little boy, Leith Alexander.

I stopped taking sessions last October due to having difficult pregnancies. It was more than that though, I really wanted the freedom of being able to take the time to savory those last few months of being pregnant and being a family of 2. I was able to really enjoy that time of my life and help make the transition easier on our older children. I am so grateful for being able to take that time. During this time I have really been able to sit back and think about what I wanted for my business and my photography. I am very excited to share these changes with you in the upcoming weeks.
But for now let me tell you more about this precious little boy: Leith Alexander joined our family on January 10th (birth story and photos to come). We could not be more smitten. He is so perfect. We are mesmerized by him. I love watching Lila and Lucy swoon over him the way his father and I do. That is new for us, when we added Lucy to the family, Lila was not old enough to understand and be excited. This time Lila and Lucy both are. They love being big sisters. Leith is so blessed to have siblings that love him so much already.

Having 3 kids 5 and under all at home on top of 4 pets is a crazy, to say it is a ton of work is an understatement. Our house is full of blissful chaos 90% of the day. We have earned the right to say we thrive in chaos with our houseful of babies, furry and otherwise. Leith is mommy obsessed. I spend all day and all night holding him. He is in my lap right now as I type this. I get maybe an hour combined through out the day where he is not being held by me. I am not complaining, please don’t think I am. I love every second of it. My arms feel empty in the fleeting moments when they are not full with his little body. I don’t know what to do with myself when I try to take a moment for myself and just sit by myself. I want to take in every moment of this stage where all he wants is me. I am already saddened by the thought of his wanting to play and be independent as his babyhood evolves. I spend most of my days just staring at him to memorize him in the current moment as he is today because tomorrow he will be just a little older, a little different.

I just adore being a mother. Not that it should be a surprise to anyone seeing as how I now have 3 little children, but I am overwhelmed with the love I have for the minions that fill my house. That is really all I can say. I leave you with a flood of Leith photos that I have taken over the past 5 weeks as well as some highlights from our posed newborn and lifestyle newborn session.

The following photos were not taken by me. We were so blessed with the amazing talent we were able to work with to capture the memories of Leith’s first weeks. The amazing Meg Newton Photography is responsible for his newborns. When I say amazing I mean it. I can not say enough good things about her work and our session. I will cherish these forever. If you are pregnant and in the market for newborns, message me right now. You will not regret it.
Click her name above for her website, here for her facebook or you can find her on instagram here!

We also were lucky enough to be have a lifestyle newborn session of done by Allison Turcotte Photography. These photos mean so much to me because they took the stress of trying to pose Lila and Lucy with Leith from me. They give us family photos with such ease that even my picture hating husband said that it was an easy session. This session sold me on lifestyle. I am converted. If you want those first moments in your house captured or a stress free newborn session in your own home message her now.

Gorbett Maternity

Happy October! Oh how I love this month. My Lila turns 5 in a few days! Be on the look out for a personal post about her special day soon! In the mean time I wanna share with you this maternity season of the Gorbett family! They were such a joy to photographer, despite it looking like it would rain for most of their session.

Enjoy these highlights from their session! I still swoon over that banner than Samantha’s sister made for them!

Back At It…

Back at blogging…
Lets do a brief recap of the going ons here at CCP before I flood you with all the sessions I have been doing! First off, and the main reason this blog has been so quiet, we are expecting our 3rd baby in January!
_RJV2461
Morning sickness kicked my butt! But I will be 20 weeks along this week (so be on the lookout for a gender announcement soon as we find out on Wednesday!) and am getting back to my normal self! We are all so excited for this next adventure, especially Lila who spent a whole year asking for a new baby! I have been savoring every moment of this pregnancy from the horribly sickness and heartburn to the sweet little kicks. ❤

As if a new baby wasn’t enough, about a month ago Rollie aka Roland joined us after we sadly lost another one of pets. He is a Newfy (50%), Saint B(25%) and Great Pyr(25%) mix that is 3 months old and already huge! He earned his nickname, Rollie, after we quickly learned there is very little this puppy loves more than food! He is the 101 Dalmatians character reborn into a much bigger and much fluffier puppy! For more photos of this cutie and his big brother, Louie, follow me on instagram! It is mostly filled with their snuggles.

We seem to thrive in chaos in this household. Lol. But we absolutely love it.
The goal is that starting next month I am taking more time off from photography to focus more on doing more lifestyle images for my own family. These past 4 months have been so jammed packed with sessions, I have barely picked up my camera for my own family. Being busy is of course such a blessing but I also feel that with my body telling me to slow down (I have rough pregnancies guys. My body does not like growing babies.) so it is the perfect time to take a step back and refocus on my crazy gang of babes at home. You can expect to see a lot more personal posts like this one mixed into to the session recap blogs. Full of our journey as a transitioning familiy going from 4 to 5 with 4 pets, homeschooling 2 young kids, and exploring Washington. All while balancing military life. Sounds easy, right? Haha.

Here are a few recent photos of my gang. Its a tiny amount since I have been so swamped! I am hoping by next week I will have many more photos to share with you!

Proctor Maternity

What happens when your 4 year old wakes up at 6AM? You end up being productive at 8 in the morning, which is normally when I would just now be getting out of bed. The joys of parenthood.

Now on to the Proctor’s.
You might have heard me say this before but these kiddos where so awesome for their shots. It was a cold and windy day when we shot this session so we knocked them out as fast as we could so that their dad could let me hang in the car. But it isn’t too often that you get some kids that all you have to do is tell them to cheesy really big and it works. They made my job so easy.
So did gorgeous Melissa and the absolutely stunning Puget Sound. I know I told you yesterday I could do maternity sessions every day but I should have been more clear. I could do beach maternity sessions every day even if Owens Beach doesn’t give us that gorgeous sun set I was hoping for (hey it was sunny no complaints at all from me).
Can you believe that this bump is due next month!?

Please enjoy these highlights from this session!

Smith Maternity

I have this awesome job that lets me spend my weekends capturing the love and excitement of families as they anxiously wait for the arrival of their new bundle of joy. I will never tire of maternity sessions. I could do them every day and still get that fuzzy feeling of excitement each session. ❤
One of those families from this past weekend was the Smith’s. Not only does this little baby girl get two doting parents that can’t wait to meet her in June, but she is blessed with two older sisters to love and adore her as well. The weather really gave us the run around last week. Up until the morning off, it was set to ran all day, but thankfully it blew over and gave us a perfect Washington evening for this session to come to be.

Please enjoy these highlights from their family maternity session! As always these are only some of my chosen favorites. I wish I could share them all!

More Maternity

The last session from last weekends marathon. This Seattle beach might not have given us the dreamy sunset sky we were hoping for, and maybe it is just because I am new here, but I love the sun light clouds all the same. There is something about shooting on a real beach that still gets me so excited. It is so much better than using Lake Ontario in NY. Just yet another thing about this area that makes me love it even more.

Enjoy these highlights from these fellow former Dallas residents! This was another session that was just overflowing with keeper images. Unfortunately I can’t post all of the 90 images that mom and dad are getting but here are a few of my favorites.

Johnson Maternity

I’m a little behind on blogging this session after taking off the past 4 days for the holiday with my family (check back on Wednesday for the blog post of our adventure photos!) and also because this session was so stunning I just could not pick a small number to post! I delivered 88 images from this session to this couple. That is almost double my average from a maternity session! I just found myself choosing image after image while culling. I got a little carried away over how adorable these two were together when shooting. It is a good problem to have. 😉

Enjoy these highlights from this gorgeous couples maternity session! _RJV7965 _RJV7980 _RJV7985 _RJV7992 _RJV7998 _RJV8002bw _RJV8006 _RJV8008 _RJV8011 _RJV8012 _RJV8023 _RJV8029bw _RJV8033 _RJV8035bw _RJV8044 _RJV8051 _RJV8055 _RJV8062bw _RJV8080 _RJV8096 _RJV8100 _RJV8106

Yang Maternity

Session number two from this past weekend is done! A gorgeous maternity session to a mommy to be due any day now! Look at how adorable and little that bump is! I know understand why everyone felt the need to remind me how little I was with both my pregnancy’s! I couldn’t even help it and I know how it feels. Haha. Their baby boy is gonna be such a heartbreaking from the look of his beautiful parents!

Enjoy these highlights from their session! I wish I could share them all but my sessions usually come with over 40 images! Sorry, I was really feeling the black and whites from this image. They are just so dreamy. ❤

Hess Family

I can honestly say I will be sad to not be able to photograph this family again. 😦
I first meet the Hess family before little Dani was born, I did their maternity, birth and now these family sessions. Dani is so stinking cute. We turned 6 months old recently and I saw the status her mom posted on Facebook and literally said no way out loud. I can not believe that it has been that long. When you welcome babies into the world, I swear they grow up faster than even your own kids. You blink and then they are already crawling or getting ready to celebrate their 1st birthday way too soon. I feel like mothers and birth photographers should unite to help slow down time! 😉
Samantha is also an new and upcoming photographer in the Drum area! So I have been helping her out get started and grow over the past few weeks. I can’t wait to continue to watch her talent grow and little Dani, even if it does have to be from a far!

Goodbye NY

A Blog post dedicated to just the personal memory lane of our family and the time we spent here at Fort Drum. Sadly this is missing our first year hear due to only having prints of those pictures. But hey you get the idea. 😉
This are images from the past two years. I did not take all of these images from where taken by other photographers currently at Fort Drum or were here at the time. (Jessica Souza Photography, Kristin Charles Smith Photography, Brittany Besaw Photography, and Karen’s Captured Moments). Also I did try to keep pet photos out for the most part. This is mostly just the humans of the family. 🙂

Making this is very weird for me, I am so excited to leave this area. I am overjoyed to be moving to Washington, bigger and better things await us there and everyone knows it. But over the past 3 years some much has changed. We added members of our family and we have grown and matured so much. When we moved here I was 18. 18 guys. We were so stupid. Lol. We have grown up so much over the years (I mean heck last night I renewed the registration of my car a month early and increased my insurance coverage!). When I look back at where I was when we first moved here it is crazy.  Whew, glad I changed that around.

There have been some serious bumps in the road here, but all in all I feel like this place has done us a great service. Within all the suck we have dealt with and the hardship, we have become such more more and because of it our life ahead will be much smoother. We spent the past 3 years making mistakes really, whether in personal life or even in business. But other past 9 months the after effect of that has hit me hard. We are actual adults now to be taken seriously, respected, and held accountable! It might not sound like such a big deal but remember, we were 18 and 20 we got here. Christian hadn’t even had his own apartment thanks to being away at basic, and we were always right by family to be able to bail us out when we wanted to act without thinking. Now, we get to do the bailing out!

Maybe I am just being silly about this. Lol. But Fort Drum will always has a spot in my heart for helping us grow, in maturity and in size. Lucy, and Addie are both in our family because of Fort Drum. It is were my baby was born. It is were I met some of the best friends I have ever known who will be my friends for life. I may not miss the cold or the boredom, but I will miss (some) of people and memories we have here.
